Synopsis
This, the best-known work by Swedish painter Fanny Brate, depicts two girls preparing a name day party in a large room, adorned with 18th-century Gustavian furniture, lavish wall hangings, meadow flowers and ivy. The name day is a European and Latin American tradition where one celebrates the day of the calendar which corresponds to one's given name.
